Since opening for business in 1987, Dr. Boothe has transformed his office, Boothe Eye Care and Laser Center, into the standard of care for vision centers across the world. The sheer number of patients who have come to his Lasik center in Plano, Texas, speaks volumes about the depth of his experience and the enormous success he has had in restoring his patients’ eyesight. Pioneering the use of laser technologies since their major breakthrough in the early 1990s, Dr. Boothe was the first cornea specialist in the Dallas, Texas, area to use the Excimer laser technology in refractive surgery. He was also one of the first specialists in the country to use a “microkeratome,” a device that allows a surgeon to create and lift the corneal flap (no longer in use, now he offers all laser Lasik). Dr. William Boothe attended Rice University as an undergraduate and earned his medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his residency at Texas Tech University School of Ophthalmology, followed by a cornea fellowship at Jules Stein Eye Institute (University of California Los Angeles Medical School) where he specialized in refractive surgery. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and was named VISX Surgeon of the Year in 1999.
